Sometimes, surprise gifts are not welcome. Regardless of whether or not this gift is coming from an innocent stranger or a well-meaning close friend, not everyone wants to be surprised. 

Now, most decent adults have a strong sense of the kind of gift a loved one might enjoy. They might even ask other folks in their social circle if their idea is a good one prior to making a big purchase. If the person for whom you are shopping is a romantic partner, you should probably have a good inherent sense already of what might be acceptable and exciting to them and what might not be. 

There are some gifts in this world that are so big—that require so many logistics and considerations—they should not be delivered unexpectedly. Here, we have a fully-grown man who thought it was a good idea to purchase a fixer-upper on the outskirts of town without any discussion of the matter with his fiancée.
